Colonel Gary Marlowe is a faculty member at the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy. Previous to his time at Eisenhower, he served as the Division Chief, Current Operations J-33 on the Joint Staff. In this role, he orchestrated the current operations functions within the National Military Command Center and supported operational reporting through the National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center to senior leaders. Col Marlowe’s team was responsible for the Joint Staff’s Crisis Management capabilities and provided timely, relevant and accurate information to enable the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to provide the best military advice to the Secretary of Defense and the President of the United States.
Colonel Marlowe commanded the 389th Fighter Squadron where he oversaw all aspects of a 21-jet F-15E squadron. During his command the squadron directly supported the liberation of Mosul, Iraq from ISIS control. A Command Pilot in the F-15E, Colonel Marlowe has flown 866 combat hours in Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, ODYSSEY DAWN and INHERENT RESOLVE. Additionally, he served as the military aide to the President in Washington, DC, and as the speechwriter to the Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force. Colonel Marlowe is a graduate of the Air Force Intern Program. He earned his pilot wings through Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) and commissioned through AFROTC at Utah State University in 2000 as a distinguished graduate.
Colonel Marlowe has successfully completed a Seminar XXI Fellowship with Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has earned a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategy from Naval War College, a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Utah State University.
