Walt Hudson, Colonel, US Army (retired), currently serves as a professor at the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy of National Defense University in Washington, DC, where he teaches courses on strategic leadership, strategy, policy entrepreneurship, geoeconomic competition and other topics. He retired from the Army in July of 2019 and his assignments included serving as the Senior Legal Advisor/Staff Judge Advocate for US Central Command (USCENTCOM) from 2012-2015 and for ISAF Joint Command in Afghanistan from 2011-2012. He was also deployed to and served on assignments in Iraq, Somalia, Panama, Korea, and Germany. His education includes a B.A. from The Citadel, a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a Ph.D in military history from Kansas State University. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College. He is a member of the bars of Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the U.S. Supreme Court. His publications include the book Army Diplomacy: American Military Occupation and Foreign Policy After World War II (2015) as well as numerous articles and reviews published in various military, legal and other journals.
