COL Ned Krafchick, USA

COL Ned A. Krafchick was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Field Artillery through the ROTC detachment at George Mason University in 1997. Since commissioning COL Krafchick served 13 years as an Army Field Artillerymen before transitioning to Functional Area 52, Nuclear and Counter Weapons of Mass destruction, in 2010.

COL Krafchick currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy since 2019.  He has taught Acquisition and Innovation as well as being an Industry Study lead, in the Munitions Industry.

COL Krafchick has served in a variety of Army leadership and staff positions including Platoon Leader and Battery Executive Officer in C Battery 1^st Battalion 14^th Field Artillery at Fort Sill Oklahoma.  Next he served in the Republic of Korea as part of 1^st Battalion 15^th Field Artillery as a Battalion Maintenance Officer.  Subsequently he served in the 4^th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado, as part of the 3d Brigade Combat Team’s, 3d Battalion 29^th Field Artillery as a Assistant Brigade Fire Support officer, Task Force Fire Support Officer, Battalion Fire Direction office and finally as a Battery Commander for C Battery.  During this time he deployed to Iraq twice, with his last deployment as a Battery Commander and serving on a Military Transition Team as a Brigade Operations Officer. 

COL Krafchick, transitioned to Nuclear and Counter Weapons of Mass destruction in 2010 and has served in the 20^th CBRNE command, as a Deputy on a Nuclear Disablement team, and as the Commands Nuclear Planner.  Then he served at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency as a CWMD planner, supporting Combatant Commands planning efforts. 

COL Krafchick’s military education includes the Field Artillery officer Basic and Advanced courses, Command, the functional area 52 Nuclear Counterproliferation officers course.  Theater Nuclear Operations course and served as the course director for the Joint CWMD Planners course.  In addition he has attended the Nuclear Weapons Policy course, the Combined Arms Services Staff School, the Army Command and General Staff College, the Joint and Combined Warfare School, and the National War College.  COL Krafchick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History; a Master of Science degree in Technology Intelligence from the National Intelligence University; and a Master of Science degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College.
