LTC Andrew “Drew” Gillick is assigned to The Eisenhower School of National Security and Resources Strategy as Military Faculty. Prior to this assignment, he was a Presidential Strike Advisor aboard the US Strategic Command Airborne Command Post LOOKING GLASS.
Drew was born in Heidelberg, Germany, and spent his youth moving around the United States and overseas. He was commissioned into the US Army Infantry in 2006 upon graduation from the United States Military Academy. His first assignment was as a support platoon leader, dismounted reconnaissance platoon leader, and troop executive officer with 1-32 CAV, 1st BCT, 101st ABN DIV and included a deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom ’07-’09. Drew’s second assignment was as a battalion S-4 and company commander with 1-27 IN, 2nd SCBT, 25th IN DIV with a second deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.
In 2012, Drew became a Functional Area 52 (Nuclear and Counterproliferation Officer) and was assigned as an executive assistant in the US Pacific Command J5 Strategic Planning and Policy Directorate. His following assignments include Instructor and Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Nuclear Engineering at the United States Military Academy, Nuclear Effects Program Manager at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, and Logistics Officer and Presidential Strike Advisor at US Strategic Command.
Drew has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He currently resides in Lorton, VA, with his wife Jordan and three children: Reed (10), Reagan (6), and Adler (4).
