Kent May joined the U.S. Department of State in 1998. He has been a member of the Eisenhower School faculty since 2024.
In his career with the Department of State, Kent has served overseas in Chennai, Ho Chi Minh City, Sydney, Johannesburg, and Ciudad Juarez. In Washington, DC, Kent served in the Executive Secretariat and in the Bureaus of Consular Affairs and African Affairs. Kent also served as Director of the Los Angeles Passport Agency, representing the Department of State on the Federal Executive Board. He is the 2023 recipient of the Secretary of State’s Arnold L. Raphel Memorial Award for developing the next generation of U.S. government leaders.
He holds a Master of Science from the Eisenhower School and is a graduate of the College of William and Mary. He is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister-Counselor.
