Dr. Eric J. Weis (USA, Ret.)

Professor of Strategic Leadership

Eric J. Weis is a Professor of Strategic Leadership at the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy (National Defense University).

With over 30 years of experience as a senior executive leader, educator, executive coach, and organizational development practitioner, Eric brings a proven ability to lead, assess, train, and inspire individuals and teams to thrive in complex strategic environments. His distinct background, from battlefield leadership to academia and corporate consulting, offers a unique perspective on collaborative, mission-focused leadership.

A retired U.S. Army Infantry officer with more than 25 years of commissioned service, Eric commanded and led units ranging from 38 to 1,500 personnel across conventional and special operations forces, in both peacetime and combat. He held leadership roles at the direct, operational, and strategic levels, and has successfully led change efforts in large organizations and multicultural environments worldwide.

After his military career, Eric earned a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from George Mason University, focusing on performance teams and leadership in extreme conditions. He has published and presented research in both military and civilian forums.
