Colonel (Retired) S. Gordon Hanson is a Title X Associate Professor and the National Security Studies Department Chair at the Eisenhower School, National Defense University. A 1992 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Gordon spent 30 years in the Army as a Financial Manager and Comptroller, retiring in 2022. He completed a wide variety of military assignments in the tactical and academic arenas. Gordon deployed numerous times, to include combat tours in Operation Restore Hope (Somalia) and two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He deployed on operational assignments to Egypt, Honduras, and Haiti.
Mr. Hanson has taught at a variety of civilian and military academic institutions, to include Central Texas College, United States Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, and National Defense University. He also taught at the U.S. Army Financial Management School and served as the Director of Training for all new Financial Management Soldiers.
Mr. Hanson has earned Master’s Degrees at the State University of New York – Oswego in 1996, Syracuse University in 2006, and the United States Army War College in 2018.
