Tobi Beck is a Visiting Faculty Fellow at the Eisenhower School, National Defense University, where Beck teaches Strategic Leadership. Beck brings more than 30 years of experience in information technology and program management within the Department of Defense and the private sector. Beck currently serves as a civilian employee within the DoD acquisition and cyber workforce and holds DAWIA Program Management Level III certification.
Beck's federal career includes program management and IT policy and planning at the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). Prior to federal service, Beck held private-sector leadership roles including Executive Director of Information Technology for Covance's Indianapolis and Global laboratory operations, along with positions at WellPoint and TEKsystems. Beck began a career in public service as a Military Police officer in the United States Army.
Beck holds a Juris Doctor from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in Philosophy and is a graduate of the Eisenhower School's Class of 2026 and the Strategic Acquisition Program, completed as part of the Defense Senior Leader Development Program (DSLDP), a Senior Executive Service pipeline program. Beck's Eisenhower School Scholars Program research examined artificial intelligence as an involuntary informant, demonstrating how AI systems fail to safeguard information and often know more than they themselves recognize.
