Dr. Alexandria Huerta was a career United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Foreign Service officer with over 20 years of experience leading enterprise-wide strategy, managing complex program portfolios, and aligning cross-sector initiatives with organizational goals and policy priorities in high-visibility, high-stakes environments
She served as the Deputy Mission Director in New Delhi, overseeing 134 staff and managing operations. Prior to her assignment in India, Dr. Huerta served as Assistant Professor at the Eisenhower School for National Security & Resource Strategy. At Eisenhower, she taught economics of national security and energy industry studies. She will be joining the faculty at Eisenhower again in the fall as an Expert Consultant/Adjunct Professor
Dr. Huerta has served as the Senior Development Advisor in Fiji. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing donor engagement and coordination, strategic development, and monitoring and evaluation of USAID programs in six Pacific Islands countries. She helped to open the first USAID program in Laos since 1975, and served tours in Afghanistan, Barbados, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Before joining USAID in 2008, Dr. Huerta worked for World Vision as the agricultural specialist for the Africa Development Team. She was also a Peace Corps Agriculture Volunteer in Mali and the first Peace Corps Volunteer Leader in Mozambique
Dr. Huerta has a B.S. in Agricultural Communications from the University of Georgia, a M.S in Agricultural Economics from the University of Tennessee, and a PhD in Agricultural Development and Extension Education from Purdue University. Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Dr. Huerta is proud of her multicultural heritage
