Col D. Leigh Hasson, USAF

Military Instructor

Colonel D. Leigh Hasson, USAF, is a Military Instructor at the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, National Defense University, Fort McNair, Washington D.C.

Prior to her current assignment she served on the Joint Staff J3 as an Operations Officer.  She has served as an Executive Officer on the Air Staff and as a staff officer on US Central Command and US Joint Forces Command staffs. She has commanded at the squadron level, has Capitol Hill experience and has served as a Fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Colonel Hasson is also a graduate of the Marine Corps War College in Quantico, VA.

Colonel Hasson has operational flying experience in Operations NORTHERN WATCH, SOUTHERN WATCH, ENDURING FREEDOM, and IRAQI FREEDOM in the E-3 AWACS and E-8 Joint STARS aircrafts.  Her non flying deployments include the established of the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command (IJC) multi-national Headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan and she has deployed to provide Humanitarian Assistance to Pakistan. 

Colonel Hasson is married to David Poffenbarger and they have two children, Alexis and Samuel.
