Spouses Educational Opportunities & Spouses Network

During the academic year, there are many opportunities for spouses to participate in student educational activities. For the 2015-2016 academic year, the following opportunities will be offered:
  • Selected lectures
  • Prep-L lectures
  • Selected elective courses for audit
  • Executive development
  • Health and fitness program
  • Personal and family development program
  • Eisenhower School alumni association events
The Eisenhower School Spouses Network is an organization whose primary purpose is to enhance the Eisenhower School experience for students and spouses through participation in school events, social activities, and personal interactions. It is not intended to be a service organization, but rather an opportunity to meet other spouses, see some local sights at group rates, and have fun! The function of the group depends on the participation of those most actively involved. In past years, the spouses have also organized events for children, supported Eisenhower School sports events, and supported the students and their families in many other ways.

Interns from colleges across the nation come to the Eisenhower School (ES) to learn how their academic pursuits could result in careers that would contribute to our national security. Interns do work that contributes directly to the research, teaching, and outreach missions of ES. Our internships are very flexible, accommodating university programs on the semester system, two summer sessions, or even students who elect to intern during their winter break. Many interns have extended their internships after they return to school and some have continued to work as research assistants the summer after graduation.

Tutor/Mentor Program

Community outreach plays an important role at the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy. For more than 20 years, students and faculty have volunteered to tutor and mentor students at a local elementary school. This partnership began with Van Ness Elementary School and, after Van Ness closed 9 years ago, the effort continued at Amidon-Bowen Elementary School. The Eisenhower School partnership with these elementary schools has demonstrated unreserved success. Working with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program, Eisenhower School has collected and distributed toys to every child in the Amidon-Bowen Elementary School during the holiday season.

The Eisenhower School participates in several youth outreach programs such as the National Youth Leadership Forum, Presidential Classroom, and Partners in Education
